Cakesicles

It's time for a Disney Friends Blog Hop!  This month's theme was 'Disney at Home'.

A big reason I started this blog was not only to share travel tips, but also show ways to bring that Disney magic and nostalgia home through baking!  I was experiencing all the Disney feels this week and was inspired to show you an easy treat to make you feel like you are on Main Street without leaving your home °o°

Cakesicle anyone???

Cakesicles are becoming so popular. They can be decorated so many ways and they are a fun alternative to the basic cake pop. Here is a basic cakesicle with sprinkles. I have made them for birthday parties, weddings and just as a fun treat for the kids.  You can really use your imaginations with these delectable little treats.

What you’ll need:

Cakesicle mold
Mini popsicle sticks
Coating Chocolate in color of choice
Sprinkles- I used these Mickey Mouse Inspired Sprinkles
Cake flavor of choice baked
1-2 TBSP Chocolate Ganache or Buttercream
Paintbrush
Water/Piping Gel Mixture

Directions:

In a bowl of a standing mixer (or with your hands), use the paddle attachment to mix the cake until combined.  Add 1-2 TBSP ganache it buttercream. You don’t want to add too much otherwise your cakesicle won’t stay together. The ganache or buttercream is just meant to be an adhesive for the cake. Set aside.

Melt your chocolate. Coat the inside of the cakesicle mold making sure to cover all sides. Freeze for 5 minutes. Roll about 1-2 tsp cake mixture and press into chocolate coated mold and spread evenly. Insert popsicle stick into cake. Cover the remainder with melted chocolate making sure to even out the top so it’s not overflowing. Pop back in freezer for 10-15 minutes.

Remove from freezer. Slowly peel cakesicle from mold and voila you have a perfect cakesicle!

Apply the water/piping gel mixture to the area you would like sprinkles with a paintbrush and immediately apply sprinkles.

Here is a quick video of the process

Let me know if you've tried this out. I’d love to hear all about it!!
