Mickey Shaped Donut

This month's Disney Blog Hop is all about Disney snacks at home!  If you’ve been on social media these days, I’m sure you’ve seen the new massive Mickey donuts they’ve released at the parks. They are just as big as a toddlers head!  I immediately wanted to make my own version. This smaller version of the massive donut is so easy to make and the perfect way to have a Disney themed snack at home.

These are baked donuts, which is handy if you don't have a deep fryer lying around.

Tools Used:
Donut Pan

Ingredients: (original recipe from "As Easy as Apple Pie")

Donuts:
1/2 Cup Flour
1/3 Cup Sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
2 TBSP unsalted butter melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/3 Cup + 1 1/2 TBSP Milk
1 Egg

Glaze:
1/2 Cup Powdered Sugar
1-2 TBSP Milk
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
Optional: Food Coloring and Sprinkles

Step 1:
Make the donuts.

In a bowl, mix your dry ingredients. In a separate bowl, whisk together your wet ingredients. In a bowl of a standing mixer, combined the dry and wet ingredients until just incorporated. Be careful not to over mix.

With a piping bag, pipe batter about 3/4 full into prepared donut pan. Bake at 350°F for 8-10 minutes.

Step 2:
Make the glaze. Combine all ingredients until smooth.  Add food coloring of choice.

Step 3:
After donuts are cooled, take a small round cookie cutter and cut out 2 circles (from 2 donuts), these are going to be the ears. Cut a toothpick in half and place in a full donut where the ears will go.  With a small amount of glaze, “glue” the small donut pieces to the toothpicks.  Chill in freezer for 5 minutes to garden.

Take out of freezer. Carefully, dip the Mickey donut face down into your glaze mix. Place on cookie rack to drip. Add the sprinkles immediately. Let sit for at least 30 minutes before serving.

Step 4:
Enjoy!

Yum! I haven't tried them in the parks yet, but this smaller version seems like a better bet. Thanks!
